Week-long academic exchange and company visits for the Industrial AI Challenge
Students and professors from Auburn University (Alabama, US) were hosted in Trento from October 18 to 25 for a week of discussion and collaboration with University of Trento students involved in the AI and Innovation course, led by Prof. Marco Formentini for the Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence Systems at DISI.
The visit represented a significant moment within the activities of the Industrial AI Challenge, offering the opportunity not only to share perspectives, methodologies, and innovative ideas on the application of artificial intelligence in industrial contexts, but also to visit the partner companies involved in the challenge (Fedrigoni, Trentingrana CONCAST, and Adige BLM).
During the visit, the mixed working groups discussed ongoing projects, comparing approaches and solutions, and thus strengthening the international and interdisciplinary dimension of the initiative.
The week concluded with an open exchange on the possibilities for future collaborations between Auburn University, the Center for Supply Chain Innovation at Auburn, and the University of Trento, confirming the value of global academic cooperation in education and innovation.
A special thanks to Professors Anthony Roath, Tyler Morgan, Robert Straw, and Joe Hanna and all the companies for their valuable collaboration and support for the initiative.
