Vulnerable Application Development for the Security Testing Training
Opportunity for a 3-6 months internship

Part of the board area Products and Innovation and the SAP Global Security team, the Security Testing team provides central services and infrastructure supporting the SAP Secure Software Development Lifecycle (Secure SDL). The team is responsible for the definition, selection, testing, configuration and/or development of security testing tools (both static and dynamic) as well as building own tools. The team also provides central educational and consulting to enable development programs to use the tools efficiently and carries out research projects in white spot areas.

The internship will take place in Sophia Antipolis (south of France) in the context of the Security Testing Training.
The scope of this internal training is to present an overview of the security testing strategy, describing the tools and giving to any SAP developer some best practices and recommendations to follow.

We educate developers with Fortify (for Java scan), Checkmark (for Javascript scan) and Coverity (for C/C++) for the static analysis and WebInspect (WI) and Zap for the dynamic analysis. In addition to a strong scientific and technical background, the position requires strong problem-solving capabilities with the ability to communicate effectively. The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Good technical/development skills
  • Good Java coding skills and good knowledge of Eclipse, Tomcat, etc
  • Knowledge in SAP UI 5, Fiori
  • Knowledge in JavaScript, C/C++
  • Willingness and proven ability to quickly acquire development proficiency in new technologies
  • Fluency in English (working language)
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of SAP environment is a plus (e.g. Monsoon)
  • Experience with Security Testing Tools is a plus

Usage Control for Cyber Threat Information Sharing, opportunity for a 6-month internship

Cyber threat information (CTI) are precious insights that permit to react to malicious activities harming online organisations. Standards like CybOX, Stix and Taxii allow to capture and share CTI, however such information are not generally shared in public, due to the high sensitivity of these data. The internship focusses on the development of access and usage control solutions applied to the Hadoop software family, big data architecture and on their interplay with CTI-related standards.
The activities are part of an newly launched collaborative innovation project funded by the European Commission, C3ISP, in cooperation with major academic and industrial organisations. The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • University Level: Last year of MSc or less if the student has a good profile
  • Good knowledge of the Java programming language
  • Good knowledge of versioning control systems like GIT
  • Good knowledge of Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive and/or related technologies

Anonymization Services for Big Data, opportunity for a 6 months internship

Product Security Research proposes a 6-month internship in its Sophia-Antipolis offices (Mougins, France). Many companies and organizations in Europe have become aware of the potential competitive advantage they could get by timely and accurate Big Data analytics, but in some areas such as Health Care, User profiling, and intrusion detection, strong privacy protection requirements apply. In the EU Research Project TOREADOR, we want to deliver an architectural framework and a set of components for model-driven set-up and management of Big Data analytics processes, supported by security and anonymization services.

In the above-described context, the specific goals of the internship are as follows:

  • Integrate procedures for Privacy Preserving Data Publishing and Privacy Preserving Data Mining as a service
  • Deploy and experiment with the TOREADOR big data platform
  • Apply the anonymization services to distinct machine learning use cases, including anomaly detection on logs and online marketing services.

Technologies/techniques involved are: Java, JavaScript, GIT/SVN, Maven, and Machine Learning. We expect that 40% of time will be dedicated to research activities, and 60% to development. Candidate profile:

  • University Level: Last year of MSc or less if the student has a good profile

DevOps / System Engineer at Trentino Sviluppo

Trentino Sviluppo is looking for several experienced DevOps / System Engineers to join their new DevOps Team. The DevOps Team will be responsible for ensuring reliability for our cloud-based infrastructure, and help to scale up in order to meet growing business demands.

The DevOps Team will manage several systems, including:

  • theOutplay platform, a web application composed of microservices deployed in a Docker Swarm cluster, and several database servers
  • widget delivery infrastructure for our videoplayer widget, currently deployed on AWS Elastic Beanstalk, receiving millions of requests per day (and growing!)
  • data engineering infrastructure, which uses Elasticsearch, AWS Lambda, Redis, and dockerized microservices to implement an ETL pipeline
  • their new geographically distributed video content delivery infrastructure, which replaces a third party video delivery CDN, currently in development
  • various other projects and services, deployed directly on EC2 instances or containerized via Docker

The first responsibility of the DevOps Team will be to take over management of the infrastructure supporting TheOutplay platform, now managed by the backend and data engineering developer teams. From there, the DevOps team will plan and take the lead in streamlining infrastructure and IT operations across our various projects. 

Here are some of the tools you will work with:

  • network optimization for our various web applications
  • ensure system reliability and availability, including rotating on-call shifts

  • maintain and evolve our Jenkins-based continuous integration system
  • help to do more with less -- proactively work to find places where we can cut costs without sacrificing performance or reliability

Requirements:

  • 5+ years devops or system engineer experience, with an emphasis on cloud-based systems
  • experience supporting large-scale high availability/always-up services
  • experience with AWS services
  • experience with Docker, prefered with Docker Swarm in particular
  • experience with / understanding of Infrastructure as Code
  • knowledge of a scripting language, and experience using scripting to automate common tasks
